After earning his Bachelor's degree in Computer Science & Engineering, Asif joined McMaster to pursue his Master's degree in Electrical & Computer Engineering. At the Biomedic.AI lab, he is exploring his passion for Data Science and AI while working in the Biomedical domain. His research focuses on understanding chronic pain, if they make clinically meaningful distinctive clusters revealing pain archetypes/phenotypes or if pain is a continuum where multiple types of pain co-exist. His work primarily involves applying semi-supervised and unsupervised learning techniques to uncover patterns in chronic pain data to look at this disease from a new perspective. This work may aid Doctors in the diagnosis of chronic pain/s and help design improved rehabilitation programs. In his free time, Asif loves watching movies and enjoys listening to audiobooks and sometimes the sound of rain when he goes to sleep.
